NORTH NEWTON, Kan. -- The University of St. Francis competitive dance team opened its 2026 season with two competitions on Sunday at the Thresher Invitational hosted by Bethel College (Kan.).

The Fighting Saints posted their best numbers in the first competition, where they fell just short of the third-place slot, finishing at 80.45.  St. Ambrose University (Iowa) managed a score of 80.70 to claim that position with their white squad in that round, later to be bested by their blue squad for a first-place finish with an 89.79.  Oklahoma City University placed second overall with a score of 85.45 among the nine competing teams.

In the second competition, St. Ambrose's blue squad authored the highest score of 91.83, while St. Francis registered a 79.83 for a fifth-place finish against seven total teams.
