Relive the baseball game that some say might have been the greatest in NAIA World Series history. During Saturday's Cumberland-St. Francis contest (Feb. 14) at 11 am, the Cumberland announcing crew will take us back to the 1993 game that saw the Saints prevail 1-0 over Cumberland in 13 innings. With the victory, the Saints advanced to the championship game one day later, where they captured the program's lone World Series crown.
USF starting pitcher Ivan Lawler went the distance in the contest, throwing 196 pitches and getting out of bases-loaded jams four separate times. Jed Dorough, his counterpart from Cumberland, threw 160 pitches.
David Rydberg drove home the winning run in the top of the 13th with a double to right field.
