JACKSON, Mich. -- In its second year of competition as a member of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference, the University of St. Francis men's bowling team claimed a third-place finish out of 12 teams in the league's opening meet of the 2025-26 season on Saturday at the Jackson Open.
USF knocked down a total of 3,066 pins on Saturday in three regular contests and 3,165 over 16 Baker games for 6,231 combined score. Claiming the meet crown was Indiana Tech with a 6,706-pin count. Lawrence Technological University (Mich.) captured runner-up honors with its 6,441-pin fall.
In the individual competition,
Jalen Pfaff was St. Francis' top varsity finisher, placing 11th overall in the field of 146 bowlers. He dropped 652 pins over three games, including a high game of 263 for an average round of 217.3.
Gabriel Mejia Wick finished second behind Pfaff and 15th overall, totaling 647 pins. He averaged 215.7 per round.
Siena Heights University's (Mich.) Logan Cook was the top individual performer on Saturday with his 231.7 average. He totaled 695 pins knocked down.
On the junior varsity front, USF's team finished second out of 11 squads with its 6,311-pin count.
Payton Wernet headlined the Fighting Saints' effort, placing first among all USF competitors and sixth overall with his 662-pin total (220.7 average).
Cody Geil was the next Saints' reserve finisher with his 23rd overall placement and 625-pin count (208.3 average).
