Bew Gains NAIA, MSFA Special Teams Weekly Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- University of St. Francis' Carl Bew secured multiple recognitions on Monday when the redshirt sophomore was named the NAIA Special Teams Player of the Week after earlier in the day being announced as the Mid-States Football Association Midwest League Special Teams Player of the Week for the seven-day period ending Sept. 21.

On Saturday, Bew totaled 132 yards (66.0 avg) on kickoff returns in USF's 42-28 win over Lawerence Tech (Mich.).  One of his two kickoff returns was a career long of 100 yards, which not only resulted in a touchdown but also established a new school record.  Bew also carried the ball three times for 37 yards with one touchdown and had one reception for nine yards.  In total, he amassed 178 all-purpose yards and accounted for two touchdowns on the day.

The Saints (1-2) take Saturday's win into their MSFA crossover date with Madonna University (Mich.), who will be coming to Joliet Memorial Stadium for USF's annual Homecoming game this coming Saturday (Sept. 27).  Kickoff is set for 1 pm.
