NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- The University of St. Francis men's cross country team raced in its second meet of the 2025 season on Friday afternoon at the University of Notre Dame (Ind.) National Catholic Invite and came away with a seventh-place effort in the 13-team field.
USF, which netted a team score of 176 points, posted six runners in the top half of all competitors on the 8K layout at Burke Golf Course. The field consisted of 144 runners from eight NCAA I and two NCAA II universities, with St. Francis (Ill.), University of Saint Francis (Ind.) and Mount Mercy University (Iowa) being the lone representatives competing from NAIA institutions. Notre Dame earned the team title with its score of 20.
The Saints, who are currently receiving votes in the NAIA Coaches' Poll, were paced by
Tyler Anderson's 27th-place time of 25:28.9.
Along with Anderson,
Miguel Garcia,
Scott Crabb,
Jack Wright,
Alberto Fernandez Arango and
Karson Shrum all placed among the top 72 spots on the finisher's list. Garcia's time of 25:50.4 claimed 33rd place, while Crabb and Wright finished neck-in-neck with times of 26:12.5 and 26:17.6, respectively, affording the runners 40th and 43rd placements.  Fernandez Arango was the 51st competitor to cross the finish line at 26:34.9, and Shrum clocked in at 26:50.4 in claiming the 62nd slot.
Rounding out USF's top seven finishers was
Manuel Soto, who posted a time of 27:28.7 to place 86th.Â
The meet's individual champion was Daelen Ackley of Notre Dame, who ran a 23:48.4 time to edge out his teammate Cameron Todd's second-place time of 23:48.5.
Next Up
The Saints will now prepare for the Seminole Valley Stampede, hosted by Mount Mercy University on Saturday, October 4, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The 8K race will be conducted at Seminole Valley Park and will begin at 9:30 am.
