TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The University of St. Francis men's cross country team concluded its 2025 season one position higher than its current national ranking on Friday morning after the Fighting Saints secured a 23rd place finish at the 70th Annual NAIA National Championships.
Tyler Anderson paced the Saints with his time of 25:31.0 to record a 55th-place overall finish on the 8K course which was held at Apalachee Regional Park.
Scott Crabb and
Miguel Garcia were the next two USF finishers on the day. Crabb ran the course in a 25:52.9 for 94th overall, while Garcia followed in 128th place with a 26:07.6 finish. Â
Alberto Fernandez-Arango (137th place) and
Jack Wright (202nd) were the final scorers for St. Francis with the two runners crossing the finish line at 26:12.2 and 26:40.4, respectively.
USF's non-scoring participants were
Karson Shrum with his 217th-place effort and 26:48.7 time and
Manuel Soto's 28:51.4 finish for 294th place.
The Saints edged out Haskell Indian Nations (Kan.) via a tie-breaker for the 23rd place spot, with both teams totaling 505 points each. After going head-to-head with the top five finishers of each squad, the Saints squeaked by the Fighting Indians with a 3-2 score officially giving St. Francis a 23rd-place overall finish.
Capturing its first-ever men's title was Indiana Wesleyan University, which had all five of its score-eligible runners finish no lower than 37th place in totaling 117 points. The Master's University (Calif.) was a close second with 128 points.
A total of 37 teams and 326 runners competed in the event.
The Master's Jack Anderson captured the individual championship with his time of 24:15.4.
