Five Saints Named To College Sports Communicators All-District Baseball Squad

GREENWOOD, Ind. -- Five members of the University of St. Francis baseball program have been recognized for both their academic and athletic performances this past spring with the announcement of the 2025 College Sports Communicators (CSC) NAIA Academic All-District Team.  Those gaining the recognition were Drew Dant, Sean Michalak, Quinn McGuire and Alex Mielcarz, all of whom graduated last month, as well as junior Jacob Jurka.

The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.  To be eligible, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore both athletically and academically and boast no less than a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, while performing at an elite athletic level.  Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot.

Michalak, who earned his Master's degree in Secondary Math Education, went 5-4 with a 5.82 earned run average, while striking out 20 batters against 14 walks in 68 innings.  His perfect fielding percentage from the pitching position led to him earning CCAC Gold Glove honors.

For his four-year career, Michalak went 12-9 with a 5.08 ERA.  He completed four of his 22 starts with a total of 64 appearances.

Michalak, a repeat recipient of the All-District Team, is a four-time NAIA Scholar-Athlete and CCAC All-Academic selection, while also being named to the Dean's List in nine of his 10 semesters.

Also making the CSC All-District Team for the second year in a row, McGuire appeared in 15 games as a relief pitcher, while making one start.  His 4.23 ERA ranked third amongst Saint pitchers, and his 17 strikeouts were the second best of his career.  Throughout his four-year career, McGuire has collected six wins and struck out a total of 49 opposing hitters.

McGuire, a Finance major, was also a three-time academic honoree at both the NAIA and CCAC levels.  He earned Dean's List accolades in all eight semesters.

Dant produced a solid season as a Saint in 2025.  Those statistics included a .291 batting average, 44 hits, 28 runs, 7 extra base hits, 21 runs batted in and a .365 on-base average.  Like Michalak, Dant was also named to the league's Gold Glove Team representing third base.

Earning his first NAIA Scholar-Athlete and CCAC All-Academic honors this spring, Dant started all 96 games for the Saints in his two-year career.  Graduating with his Master's of Business Administration degree earlier this month, Dant also earned Dean's List commendations in each of his four semesters at St. Francis with a perfect 4.00 grade point average.

Jurka went 3-4 on the campaign and appeared in a total of 13 games.  He made eight starts while tossing 42 and 1/3 innings and authored a 1.94 WHIP for the season.

In his career thus far, Jurka has gone 9-8 with an 8.68 ERA.  He has made 41 appearances over three seasons with 19 starts.

A six-time Dean's List choice, the Accounting & Business Analytics major has been named both a NAIA and CCAC all-academic choice for the second straight year.

Rounding out the list of honorees and Joining Dant and Jurka in receiving his first All-District honors is Mielcarz.  The senior utility player saw action in 45 of 50 games for the Saints in 2025 and made 13 starts.  Producing a .220 batting average at the plate, he connected for 11 hits and scored 26 runs while coaxing five walks.

In his four-year career, Mielcarz made 50 starts while appearing in 129 games.  He hit for a .238 average, while collecting 44 hits and scoring 63 runs.

Graduating earlier this month with a Bachelor's degree in Communication & Media Arts, Mielcarz is a three-time academic honoree at both the NAIA and CCAC levels.

USF went 21-29 overall and 17-15 in conference play this spring to finish in a tie for sixth place among the league's nine teams.

The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions – NCAA I, II and III and NAIA.  First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced later this month.
