Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

No. 17 Saints Hit 10-Win Mark With 34-Point Victory Over Calumet St. Joseph

WHITING, Ind. -- Sparked by a 25-0 advantage on points off turnovers, the University of St. Francis women's basketball team secured its 10th win of the season with its 67-33 victory over Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) at the Rittenmeyer Center on Saturday afternoon.  The Saints racked up a season-high 18 steals on the day en route to the 34-point triumph with Symone Harrell and Zhane Singer leading the pack with three thefts apiece.  Injury forced the contest to be halted with three seconds remaining in the third quarter.

Riley Cwinski (13 points), Tykara Harrison (12) and Le'lani Harris (12) were key offensive pieces for the Saints (10-0, 5-0 CCAC) with each player reaching double figures, while Harrison led all players with six assists.  Overall, 11 of USF's 12 players that saw action registered their name in the points column before the contest ended.

The Saints shot 12.9 percentage points higher than their opponent en route to the decisive victory, clsoing with a 17-for-32 performance (53.1 percent) in the game's final 20 minutes.  For the day, USF shot 45.5 percent (25-of-55) to Calumet's 32.6 percent reading (14-of-43).

Cwinski netted 10 of her 13 points in the opening half, hitting all four of her field goals as well as her  two free throws at the start.

Priscilla Diaz led Calumet (3-6, 0-4) in scoring, totaling eight points.

The Saints had a three-point advantage (19-16) on the scoreboard in the game's first ten minutes - after a three-pointer from Harris broke a 16-16 tie in the final seconds of the first quarter - before extending the lead to 16 points (44-28) by halftime.

The game's final 10 minutes never saw USF drop below a 19-point lead, while the scoring margin ballooned to as high as 34 points following a Mia Kennelly three-pointer on the Saints' final possession.  A serious CCSJ injury with three seconds remaining at the end of the third quarter caused the contest to be halted with both teams agreeing to stop play and declare the game official with a final score of 67-33.

Like the turnover margin (24-8), the Saints also authored an advantage on the boards, producing a 41-23 difference.  Harrison led the charge with her game-high seven rebounds, while Mariah Pates and Baylei Johnson followed by grabbing six boards apiece.
