Le'lani Harris put up 21 more markers to lead the University of St. Francis women's basketball team to a 97-72 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over Indiana University Northwest at the Pat Sullivan Center on Wednesday evening. The win extends the Fighting Saints' unbeaten streak to 11-0 and marks the team with a 6-0 record in league play.
With the exception of just 17 seconds within the first minute of play, the Fighting Saints led from start to finish thanks to a game-opening 50.0 percent shooting mark (8-of-16) in the first quarter to build an initial 24-11 lead. Harrison and Harris both had eight points in the period.
USF would hold a double-digit lead throughout the second quarter and extend the margin to 14 points (37-23) midway through the period before IUN went on an 11-5 surge to close the half and get the deficit down to 42-34 heading into the break.
The RedHawks (2-8, 1-4 CCAC) would never get any closer in the second half with St. Francis capping off the third quarter with nine straight points to put the Saints up 69-51 heading into the fourth quarter. They would never see that advantage dip below 16 points in the final period en route to the 97-72 victory.
Harrison finished the afternoon hitting 11 of her 18 shots from the field, including three three-pointers. She also converted five of her seven free-throw attempts, not to mention producing four assists and three steals.
Harris hit the 20-plus point mark for the second time this season. She connected for seven shots from the field with two three pointers, and was 5-for-7 from the foul line.
As a team, USF shot 46.7 percent overall (35-of-75), 40.7 percent from beyond the arc (11-of-27) and 61.5 percent at the free-throw line (16-of-26).
The Saints also held a 7-21 turnover advantage which resulted in a 25-8 point swing over the RedHawks, which helped offset a 17-6 point differential in second chance opportunities that the guests held over the Saints.
EJ Brown-Griffin led Indiana Northwest with 22 points.
