Alyssa Teske have been named to the 2025 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Women's Volleyball Team, it has been announced by the CSC organization. This is the first CSC all-district distinction for each player.
The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. To be eligible, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore both athletically and academically and boast no less than a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, while performing at an elite athletic level. Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot.
The recognition represents the third such academic accolade for all four players this year. Earlier this fall, they were all named NAIA Scholar-Athletes and Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic Team selections. Other recognition bestowed upon Hungate, Simon and Teske this past season included all-conference commendations and player of the week nods. Hungate and Teske each received CCAC Attacker of the Week accolades once, while Simon captured CCAC Defender of the Week honors once.
Hungate, a values-based management major, placed second in the league with her 364 kills over her 33 matches played, all of which were starts. The senior outside hitter also was second in points (404) and total attempts (1,138), fourth in points/set (3.4) and in kills/set (3.08), 10th in service receptions (579), and 12th in digs (324). She averaged 2.75 digs/set per set on the season. Hungate's other numbers included 22 service aces, 5 solo and 26 assist blocks, and a team-leading 11 double-doubles.
For her career, Hungate totaled 1,057 kills between her time at St. Francis and William Penn University (Iowa). She reached the 1,000-kill plateau on Nov. 1 versus Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.).
Messana, a senior majoring in nursing, ranked first among all Saint players in assists (484) and assists per set (4.25), while placing fifth in digs (227). During her four seasons with the squad, she saw action in 78 of the team's 136 matches, including 200 total sets. She accumulated a total of 562 assists, 344 digs and 21 service aces in that time, with an average of 2.8 assists per set between 2022-2025.
Simon, a sophomore marketing major, made her statement in the league at the service line and on defense, where she finished in the Top 5 among league competitors in four different block categories. Her top placement was the No. 3 spot in service aces (51) and service aces/set (0.47). The sophomore libero also ranked fifth in service receptions (648), digs (435) and digs/set (4.03).
Teske, who is majoring in biology, earned her distinction after serving a variety of needs. Not only did the sophomore setter/outside hitter lead the team in attacking percentage (.211), but she also ranked second among all Saints in kills (296), kills/set (2.51), assists (396), assists/set (3.36) and points/set (2.91), third in total blocks (37) and fourth in service aces (25), digs (245) and digs/set (2.08).
Among other statistical categories, Teske led the USF and conference ranks with six triple-doubles to go along with her nine double-doubles on the year.
The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes women's volleyball honorees in four divisions – NCAA I, II and III and NAIA. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in January.
USF improved its win total by two matches from the previous year, going 19-14. In league play, the Saints finished in a two-way tie for second among 12 teams at 14-4.
