STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. --
Jalen Pfaff placed 51st out of 400 bowlers to lead the University of St. Francis men's bowling team to a 10th-place team finish at the 54th Annual Midwest Collegiate Championships on Saturday and Sunday. A total of 51 teams made up the field.
Pfaff authored a 201.2 average, knocking down 1,006 pins over his five individual games on Saturday morning. Of the five games, three were 200-plus affairs, topped by a 247 effort.
Trevor Anifer and
Dylan Holtz were the only other Saints to finish in the top 50 percent of all competitors. Anifer's three 190-plus games to start Saturday allowed him to average 191.6 for the five games total, good enough for 90th place. His top performance was a 223.
Holtz finished in 164th place, while averaging a 184.8. He knocked down 739 pins over four games with a single game-high of 207.
As a team, USF totaled 8,155 pins knocked down between its five team games (4,821) and 16 Baker contests (3,334).
Purdue University (Ind.) earned the team title after knocking down a total of 8,707 pins. University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's Dawson Peterson gained the individual crown by averaging a 239.4 over his five games.
