No. 19 Saints Cruise to 34-Point Victory Over Indiana Kokomo

KOKOMO, Ind. -- Sparked by a 47-point effort from its bench, the University of St. Francis women's basketball team secured its second win of the season with its 80-46 non-conference victory over Indiana University Kokomo at the Student Activities Center in Kokomo, Ind. on Tuesday night.  Le'lani Harris was a key piece with a season-high 23-point effort, while Baylei Johnson was another with her 11 markers as part of the Fighting Saints' total output.  Overall, 12 of USF's 14 players registered their name in the points column before the contest ended.

The Saints (2-0) shot 17.5 percentage points higher than their opponent en route to the decisive victory, opening with a 13-for-38 performance (34.2 percent) in the game's first 20 minutes.  For the night, USF shot 37.5 percent (27-of-72) to Indiana Kokomo's 20.0 percent reading (12-of-60).

Harris netted 18 of her 23 points in the opening half, going 6-for-10 at the start.  Johnson handled the back end of the scoring with seven of her 11 points coming after the intermission.

Hannah Hodgen was the only Indiana Kokomo (0-1) player in double figures with 10 points.

The Saints had a 14-point advantage on the scoreboard in the game's first ten minutes with a 20-6 scoring run before extending the lead by as many as 26 points with 22 seconds remaining in the second quarter.  The remaining seconds saw the Cougars outscore St. Francis 3-1, but USF still held a 40-16 advantage at the break.

The game's final twenty minutes never saw the Saints drop below a 19-point lead, while the scoring margin ballooned to as high as 40 points following an Alainna Poisson three-pointer in the game's final two minutes.

Like the score, the Saints also authored a huge advantage on the boards, producing a strong 57-37 difference.  Zhane Singer led the charge with her game-high eight rebounds, while Mariah Pates followed up by grabbing seven boards.
