Saints Settle For 0-0 Draw With Judson

ELGIN, Ill. -- The University of St. Francis women's soccer team put up a fight Saturday afternoon, but never found the back of the net in having to settle for a 0-0 draw against Judson University.  The Chicagoland College Athletic Conference tie left USF's record at 4-3-3 overall and 2-0-1 in league play.

First Half
St. Francis was the first to strike in the match, but the hosts controlled the majority of possessions, putting together 10 shots in the period compared to USF's four.  Of the Saints' four tries, three were on target, including one from Emily Galvan in the second minute.  The other two came from Ariadne Gonzalez in the 15th and 44th minutes.  USF keeper Krystal Rodriguez denied four Judson shot attempts in the half to keep the match scoreless heading into the intermission.

Second Half
The start of the second half was similar to the first as Judson (2-2-4, 1-0-1) rattled off four shots n the first 20 minutes of action.  St. Francis had a chance to score in the 67th minute, but a header attempt from Abbey Janeczek flew just past the goal wide left.  Both teams continued to go back and forth with possessions holding fairly even.  St. Francis would find its offensive footing over the final 15 minutes, taking the match's last five shot attempts.  The tries would produce four saves from Judson keeper Eva Fernandez with each attempt being unsuccessful in finding the back of the net, resulting in the 0-0 final score.

Both teams' defenses proved to be an offensive stopper on Saturday with Rodriguez making six saves on the day, while Fernandez tallied seven.  St. Francis had 10 shots throughout the match with Janeczek, Gonzalez, and Adamari Carrera each having two attempts.
