WALESKA, Ga. --- NAIA No. 23-ranked Reinhardt University (Ga.) lived up to its high billing with a decisive 19-4 victory over the University of St. Francis baseball team on Monday afternoon.
The Eagles (13-7) jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning and scored no less than three runs in each of the first four frames en route to their eighth consecutive win. Dylan Lewis, Tucker Zdunich and Nash Crowell each hit a two-run home run with Lewis going a perfect 3-for-3 on the day with four runs scored and five driven in.
Zdunich also collected three hits, scored three times and recorded four RBIs, while Crowell drove in three runs with his two hits.
The Fighting Saints (2-7) got their first run of the game on a
Jake Klepacz single to score
Jack Salzeider (single) in the third inning. They would add another three runs one inning later with
Max Montgomery and
Dan Gusel (single) notching the runs batted in.
Notes: Salzeider recorded his first collegiate hit in the contest …
Drew Dant and
Josh Kirnbauer kept their reaching-base streaks alive with a single and being hit by a pitch, respectively. Dant has reached base in all nine USF games this year, while Kirnbauer has done so eight times … Montgomery made his collegiate pitching debut and tossed a scoreless inning … The Saints take on Truett McConnell University on Tuesday at 3 pm.
