ROMEOVILLE, Ill. --- Five Lewis University pitchers combined on a seven-hit shutout of the University of St. Francis baseball team as the Flyers scored in each of the first three innings to open a 7-0 lead en route to a 12-0 victory on Tuesday afternoon.
Each of the first five runs scored by the hosts came after two outs over the first two innings. Home runs were the story for the latter part of Lewis' scoring as the Flyers (9-11) finished with three on the day, including a three-run shot by Jackson Huntley.
The Saints (4-12) finished with seven hits on the afternoon with no runner getting farther than second base.Â
Jake Klepacz was the only USF player to collect two hits.Â
Alex Martinez,
Max Montgomery,
Nate Maliska,
Drew Dant and
John McGuire had the others.
Notes: Tuesday's contest marked just the second time this season that USF failed to score in a game … Klepacz's multi-hit effort was his fourth of the season, putting him one behind team leaders Dant and Maliska … Montgomery has produced hits in each of his last five games, which ties the team season-high mark initially set by Dant … Martinez also tied the club high for most consecutive games reaching base (11), which was also first established by Dant … St. Francis' doubleheader with Calumet College of St. Joseph initially scheduled for Saturday in Whiting, Ind. has been moved to Duly Health & Care Field on Thursday with a 2 pm first pitch.  Â
