CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa. --- Senior Michael Reif was the top finisher amongst a group of nine University of St. Francis men's cross country runners that competed in the Seminole Valley Stampede hosted by Mount Mercy University (Iowa) on Saturday.  Both him and the NAIA No. 18-ranked Fighting Saints earned a runner-up placement among 19 squads and 212 runners competing in the mid-season meet.

Reif finished in a time of 24:51.5 on the 8K course at Seminole Valley Park with the majority of USF's contingent bunched together between the Nos. 16 and 25 positions.  Leading that group was Mikey Corcoran in 16th place at 25:25.6.  He was followed by Scott Crabb at 25:39.3 (21st) and Miguel Garcia clocking in two positions later with a time of 25:43.3.  Rounding out USF's top five finishers in 47th place was Jack Wright, who posted a final time of 26:14.4.

NAIA No. 17-ranked Aquinas College (Mich.) claimed the meet title, totaling 45 points.  St. Francis was next in line with 104 points, followed by Saint Xavier University with 134 points.

The top individual performer was Saint Xavier's Isaac Sytsma at 24:37.6.

The Saints will have three weeks of rest before they compete again on Saturday, Oct. 26 when they travel to Grand Rapids, Mich. to compete in the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge hosted by Aquinas.  The meet is slated to begin at 9 am.
