Saints Open Conference Season With 1-0 Setback

JOLIET, Ill. --- A stolen pass and goal by Trinity Christian College's Grace Wieneke accounted for the only tally in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener between the Trolls and the University of St. Francis women's soccer team on Saturday afternoon as the guests came away with a 1-0 victory at Joliet Memorial Stadium.

In a defensive struggle that saw the two teams limited to just eight shots on goal for the day, Wieneke's unassisted goal from 12 yards out came at 61:11 when she produced the theft deep in St. Francis territory.  It was one of only two shots on goal for the Trolls after the break.

USF (0-5-2, 0-1 CCAC) managed just three shots on goal with two of the three being from long range and not a serious threat in the first 45 minutes.  Trinity Christian (4-1-1, 1-0) had three shots on goal in the opening half and five for the contest.  In terms of total shots, Trinity Christian held a 16-15 advantage.

Michelle Urribarri recorded her second shutout in goal for TCC, totaling three saves.  Krystal Rodriguez recorded four saves in goal for USF.

Notes: For the second game in a row, the Saints totaled 15 shots … USF's three shots on goal were a season low … Isabel Diez made her St. Francis debut on Saturday.  She came off the bench to register a team-high four shots, including one of the three shots on goal … St. Francis' scoreless streak has extended to three-plus games totaling 276 minutes … The Saints travel to Holy Cross College on Tuesday (3 pm) for another league contest.
