WASHINGTON, Mich. --- The University of St. Francis women's soccer team closed out the non-conference portion of its schedule dropping a 2-0 decision to Rochester University (Mich.) on Tuesday afternoon. The Warriors (6-1) scored both of their goals in the closing 19 minutes of the contest.
Olivia Howes authored each of the two tallies, the first one coming at 71:50. She added the insurance goal with just over four minutes remaining in the match.
Krystal Rodriguez stopped each of the other four shots on goal by the hosts. St. Francis, on the opposite end of the field, had five shots on goal with Noemie Tartrou registering the shutout.
The two teams combined for just three shots on goal in the opening half, while Rochester held a 6-5 edge for the game. The Warriors also held an 18-15 overall shot advantage on the day.
USF's top two shot takers were
Andrea Aguirre and
Mia Ocana. Aguirre totaled five shots to Ocana's three. Both players had two shots on goal.
Kelly Flores recorded the other shot on goal.
Notes: The 18 shots taken by Rochester tied a season high for a USF opponent this year … The Saints (0-4-2) begin their 11-match conference schedule on Saturday when they host Trinity Christian College at 1 pm.
