JOLIET, Ill. --- Lewis University collected hits from each member of its starting lineup, including six players who posted multi-hit games, in the Flyers' 15-5 win over the University of St. Francis baseball team Wednesday afternoon at Duly Health and Care Field. The victory also enabled Lewis to sweep the two-game season series.
The Flyers (2-3) took control of the game early with six runs in each of the first two innings.
St. Francis (5-8) produced three of its five runs in the third inning with RBIs from
Alex Mielcarz and
Sean Michalak. USF's other runs batted in came from
Jake Merda (single) and
Gio Pappas.
The Saints received a pair of hits from both
Hector Carrillo and Mielcarz.
Notes: Carrillo extended his streak of reaching base to eight games … Merda's run-producing single was both his first hit and RBI as a collegiate player … Mielcarz's two-hit game was his first of the campaign … The Saints are off until Sunday when they play the first two games of seven total in Florida next week with a doubleheader versus Webber International University.
