Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

McGlasson, Davis Lead 51-Point Bench Effort In 88-43 Win Over Trinity Christian

JOLIET, Ill. --- Sparked by a 51-point effort from its bench, the University of St. Francis men's basketball team secured its first Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference win of the season with its 88-43 victory over Trinity Christian College at the Pat Sullivan Center on Wednesday night.

Lewis McGlasson and Rahmel Davis were the key pieces with season-high 17- and 16-point totals, respectively, with Connor Casper adding another eight markers.  The starters also did their part with Te Jones collecting ten points, EJ Charles nine and Nadav Gerner eight.

The Saints (2-2, 1-1 CCAC) shot 21 percentage points higher than their opponent en route to the decisive victory, opening with an 18-for-33 shooting performance (54.6 pct.) in the game's first 20 minutes.  For the night, USF shot 51.5 percent (35-of-68) to Trinity Christian's 30.5-percent reading (18-of-59).

Davis netted 12 of his 16 points in the opening half, going 6-for-7 at the start.  McGlasson handled the back end of the scoring with 15 of his 17 points and all three of his three-pointers coming after the intermission.

Brady Loerop was the only Trinity Christian player in double figures, totaling 15 markers.

The Saints had the advantage up to eleven points in the game's first ten minutes before going up by 19 points in the first minute of the second half with a 13-2 run.  The final 11 minutes saw USF outscore the Trolls 28-6, creating the rout.

Like the score, the Saints nearly doubled up on TCC (2-4, 0-2) on the boards, gaining a commanding 51-27 advantage.  Ben Faatz nearly single-handedly out-rebounded Trinity Christian with his game-high 17 rebounds.

Notes: USF's 88 points, 51 rebounds, 12 steals and seven blocks were all season-high numbers as were its .515 field goal and .909 free throw shooting marks … McGlasson's 17 points tied his career-high scoring effort … Faatz's 17 rebounds and Dakoda Joachim's four assists were the most by any Saint this season … Casper's eight points were his most in a St. Francis uniform … An odd set of stats on the night had both Trinity Christian's men's and women's teams each total 18 field goals made and go an identical 2-for-20 from the three-point arc in the doubleheader … The Saints continue the five-game homestand on Saturday when they face Indiana University Northwest in a league affair beginning at 3 pm.
