ELGIN, Ill. ---
Jordan Pyle scored a career-high 34 points and
Justene Charlesworth authored a career-best 12 rebounds to lead the University of St. Francis women's basketball team to a 76-60 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over Judson University on Saturday afternoon.
Pyle delivered her fifth double-double of the season, combining her 34 points with 10 rebounds to go along with seven assists. She went 14-for-30 from the field with the 14 field goals tying her career best.
Alina Jahnke also recorded her first double-double as a Saint matching her ten points with ten boards.
Charlesworth finished with six points and four assists to go with her 12 rebounds.
As a team, the Saints out-boarded Judson by a 55-35 disparity with 23 rebounds coming on the offensive end. That enabled USF to put up 21 second-chance points to Judson's nine.Â
A closing 7-0 run at the end of the first quarter gave the Saints a 19-17 lead at the stop. Another 7-0 burst in the second quarter turned a one-point game into a 30-22 lead en route to a 35-26 advantage at the half.
In the second half, USF (16-5, 11-3 CCAC) led by double figures for all but two-plus minutes.
Both teams struggled from the field shooting less than 38 percent with the Saints converting at less than 20 percent (17.9, 5-of-28) from long range for the second game in a row. St. Francis offset those low numbers by going a season-best 13-for-14 at the line (92.9 pct.).
Audrey Quintana led Judson (4-16, 3-9) with 17 points converting a game-high five three-pointers.
Notes: Pyle's performance marked the sixth time in her career that she has reached the 30-point threshold … USF's nine turnovers were its second-lowest total of the season … The contest was the first of four straight on the road for the Saints. They are at NCAA I Chicago State University on Tuesday at 7 pm.
