Jordan Pyle carried the University of St. Francis women's basketball team to a 72-62 exhibition win over NCAA I Chicago State University on Tuesday night as the senior forward accounted for nearly half of USF's point total at the Jones Convocation Center.
Pyle finished with 35 points on 10-of-23 shooting from the field and 13-of-15 accuracy from the foul line. She also recorded nine rebounds and two steals.
Also having a big night in all facets of her game was
Alina Jahnke, who registered 12 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and three blocks.
Laura Segues led Chicago State with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
A big second quarter sparked the victory. Leading 22-19 after the first quarter, the Saints outscored Chicago State 19-8 in the second frame.
USF would extend its lead as high as 18 points four minutes into the third quarter before Chicago State would mount its most serious threat. The Cougars, who led for less than two minutes of the contest, eventually worked the deficit down to 62-58 with 4:50 to play before the Saints sealed the victory by going on a late 10-2 run.
St. Francis returns to regular-season action Saturday when it travels to Deerfield to face Trinity International University at 1 pm.
