Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Saints Cruise Past Saint Xavier 90-51

JOLIET, Ill. --- The University of St. Francis women's basketball team held Saint Xavier University to its lowest point total of the season in cruising to a 90-51 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory at the Sullivan Center on Saturday afternoon.

Jordan Pyle and Justene Charlesworth both reached the 20-point mark for the second time on the week to lead the Saints' charge.  Pyle recorded a game-high 27 points on 10-of-18 shooting, including four three-pointers.  She also delivered seven rebounds, five steals, one block and seven assists, the latter of which tied her season-high mark.

Charlesworth notched her first-ever double-double with a career-high ten rebounds and a season-best 22 points.  She nailed seven treys for the second game in a row, converting at a .583 clip from long distance (7-of-12) on the afternoon.

Hannah Swiatek rounded out the trio of double-figure scorers, finishing with 18 markers and doling out eight assists.

Claire Austin produced a double-double for Saint Xavier, finishing with 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Head coach John McGinty's club shot better than 50 percent from the field for the third straight game, including going 10-of-13 in the final quarter when it outscored Saint Xavier 22-3 over the closing eight minutes.  The Saints (15-4, 10-2 CCAC) also shot a season-best 58.3 percent from three-point range (14-of-24).

On the opposite end of the court, Saint Xavier (13-6, 9-3) shot just 30.4 percent overall (17-of-56), 26.3 percent from beyond the arc (5-of-19) and 57.1 percent at the foul line (12-of-21).  The Cougars also turned the ball over 19 times leading to a 29-12 scoring advantage for the Saints.

USF never trailed in the contest, opening up a 14-4 lead at the start before Saint Xavier rallied to force ties at 14- and 17-all.  A 14-2 run starting late in the first quarter and extending into the second fueled by a pair of treys from both Mia Kennelly and Charlesworth put the Saints up 31-19 and they never led by less than ten points the rest of the way.

Notes: USF's 31-of-61 shooting mark from the field were the exact same numbers as last Saturday in a 90-54 win over Cardinal Stritch … The Saints nearly had as many three-pointers (14) as Saint Xavier had total field goals (17) in the game … Charlesworth has authored at least five treys in three straight games for a total of 19 during that span … Swiatek's eight-assist game marked the fifth time this season that she has produced at least that many dishoffs … USF hosts first-place Indiana University South Bend on Wednesday at 5 pm.  The Saints currently sit one game in back of the Titans.
