Schaar Delivers Career-High Four Goals In 5-0 Win Over Governors State

CROWN POINT, Ind. --- Allison Schaar scored a career-high four goals and Krystal Rodriguez registered her fourth shutout of the season to lead the University of St. Francis women's soccer team to a 5-0 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over Governors State University on Wednesday night at the Crown Point Sportsplex.

Schaar came into the contest with a team-high five goals and nearly doubled that on Wednesday alone after having all four of her shots on goal find the back of the net.  For the night, she totaled six shots.

Half of Schaar's goals came in the first 13 minutes of the match with her third goal hitting the back of the net at 34:11.  She closed out her scoring frenzy five minutes into the second half.

USF's other goal came off the foot of Azury Sanchez seven minutes before halftime with Claudia Hernandez providing the assist.

Schaar's first goal came from 15 yards out with her second score being a turnaround in the box on a feed from Mia Ocana.  Schaar collected her third goal in heavy traffic from seven yards out before wrapping up the onslaught on a pass from Alexis Marroquin.

St. Francis (7-2-1, 3-1-1 CCAC) finished the night with more shots on goal (eight) than Governors State had total (seven).  Rodriguez stopped all four Jaguar shots on goal for her fourth blanking in the last five games.

The Saints totaled 24 shots on the night.

Notes: The five goals scored by the Saints tied a season high.  They also had five goals in a win over Indiana University South Bend back on Sept. 14 … Schaar moved into a three-way tie for second place in the league with her nine goals.  Her 19 points also place her tied for fourth in that category … Sanchez's goal was her first as a Fighting Saint … Ocana's assist was her third of the campaign, while Marroquin and Hernandez each gained their second … Rodriguez kept pace as one of the conference's best.  She maintained her top spot in the league in save percentage (.836), while ranking second in shutouts (four) and third in goals-against average (1.00) … The Saints are back home on Saturday for Senior Day, where Schaar, Sanchez, Angelina Rodriguez and Nataley Salgado will all be recognized.  USF squares off against Calumet College of St. Joseph that day at 1 pm.
