SOUTH BEND, Ind. --- Led by
Allison Schaar's two scores, the University of St. Francis women's soccer team produced a season-high five goals en route to a 5-0 victory over Indiana University South Bend to open Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play Wednesday afternoon. The win was also the fifth in six contests for the Saints this year.
Nataley Salgado wasted little time in getting the scoring started, delivering the only goal needed on this day just 65 seconds into the affair. The contest stayed that way until Schaar connected on the first of her two goals at the 33:49 mark. Just over six minutes later,
Sandy Garcia and
Claudia Hernandez hooked up for
Garcia's first collegiate goal to send the Saints into the break leading 3-0.
USF's second-half scoring came from Schaar (49:43) and
Mia Ocana (68:23) with assists delivered by
Ixchel Pelayo and
Azucena Diaz, respectively.
Not to be lost in the scoring frenzy was
Krystal Rodriguez, who authored her first collegiate shutout. She recorded two saves, both of which came in the opening half.
