BLACKJACK! Saints Show 21 (Three-Pointers) In 86-55 Victory Over Roosevelt

JOLIET, Ill. --- The University of St. Francis women's basketball team had it in the cards Thursday night, displaying 21 three pointers – including a school record 10 from Jordan Pyle – to coast to an 86-55 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over Roosevelt University at the Sullivan Center.

The win moved USF back into a tie for first place in the league standings with Saint Xavier University after the Cougars upended previous front runner St. Ambrose University 72-44 on Thursday. The Saints are now 19-6 overall and 16-2 in CCAC play, while Saint Xavier is 17-5, 15-1.

The Saints were anything but sharp in the opening quarter on Thursday, hitting just three (all treys) of their first 15 shots (20 percent) in falling behind 16-11. At the same time, Roosevelt (7-13, 6-10) jumped on top with a 7-for-12 efficiency reading (58.3 pct.) from the field.

The second quarter, however, was a complete 360 degree flip with USF outscoring Roosevelt 29-8 to take complete control of the contest. Included was a 16-0 run by the Saints sparked by three treys from Kalyn Sias-Chaney (9 points).

For the quarter, head coach John McGinty's club nailed seven three pointers in 13 attempts and never shot less than 50 percent from beyond the arc over the final three quarters (18-for-35, 51.4 pct.).

For the game, all but ten of USF's 31 baskets came from long range, while Roosevelt managed just four three pointers in 26 attempts (15.4 pct.). After shooting nearly 60 percent from the field in the opening quarter, the Lakers managed just a 32.7 percent effort (16-for-49) the rest of the night.

The Saints, meanwhile, went 11-for-19 from the floor in the second quarter (57.9 pct.) and shot 48.3 percent over the final 30 minutes. From three point range, USF went 21-for-44 (47.7 pct.).

Six of the nine Saints to see court time contributed to the three point barrage with Pyle's 10 in 16 attempts (62.5 pct.) leading the way. The ten treys surpassed the previous school record of eight set by teammate Justene Charlesworth twice earlier this year.

Pyle finished with a game high 32 points, marking the third time she has hit for at least 30 points this season. She also topped both teams with six assists and added seven rebounds.

As a team, USF dished out 27 assists among its 31 baskets with no less than four Saints recording at least five. That list included Braxtin Mickens, Hannah Swiatek, and Charlesworth.

Swiatek came off the bench to register 14 points, four treys (in six attempts), and five assists. Mickens delivered ten points and five assists, while Charlesworth totaled nine points and five assists.

Andriana Acosta led the way on the boards with 11 rebounds.

Nicole Poole topped the Roosevelt charts with her 13 points and nine rebounds.
