Rodriguez, Saints Tie All-Time Season Records In 12th Win of the Year

JOLIET, Ill. --- Three goals in just over three minutes locked down the University of St. Francis women's soccer team's record-tying 12th win of the campaign with its 3-0 shutout of Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Judson University on Wednesday night at Joliet Memorial Stadium.  USF is now 12-4-1 overall and 8-3-1 in league play.

The win ties the school record for victories in a season set initially in 2003 (12-6-3) and then matched nine years later in 2012 when the Saints went 12-7.

That wasn't the only record-tying performance on Wednesday night.  Krystal Rodriguez did the same in goal with her seventh shutout of the season.  That tied last year's mark set by Yadira Estrada.

Rodriguez stopped three shots on Wednesday and has allowed just one goal over her last four contests.

Allison Schaar was in the middle of the St. Francis scoring outburst, bookending her goal around a pair of assists.  Her score came on a penalty kick at 17:21 to put the Saints up 2-0.  Ixchel Pelayo's first collegiate goal two minutes earlier served as the game-winner.

USF's final goal came at 18:48 when Schaar found Nataley Salgado right in front of the net.

The win was the fourth straight for the Saints, which set a new season high.

They outshot Judson 16-11, including tripling up in shots on goal, 9-3.  The guests (8-7-1, 6-5-1) managed just one shot on goal in the closing 47:16.

Notes: USF's current .735 win percentage ranks first in the history of the program.  The record for a single season is .667 set in 2015 when that team went 11-5-2 … Schaar's goal was her 14th of the campaign, which moved her into a tie for sixth-place for single-season goals with Karen Grommon, who performed the feat in 2003 … Schaar's goal also ties her for second most in the league, while her 32 points ties her for third … Rodriguez, meanwhile, is among the top three performers in the conference.  Her seven shutouts ties her for the top spot with two others, while her .854 save percentage ranks No. 1.  She is also second in goals-against average (0.83) and third in goals allowed with 14 … Rodriguez's goals-against average is on tap to become the best in school history for a single season.  The record is 1.29 set in 2003 by Jeanna Potter … Salgado's goal was her third of the season … The Saints close out the regular season on Saturday at first-place Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee.  The match is slated for a 5 pm start.
