Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Five Starters Reach Double Figures In Scoring, Saints Win On Back-To-Back Nights

LINCOLN, Ill. --- Good things happen when all five starters score in double figures and that was the case Wednesday night when the University of St. Francis women's basketball team claimed a 73-66 decision over Lincoln College for its second win in as many nights.

Fresh off her 31 point performance on Tuesday, Jordan Pyle again led the attack with a game high 22 markers on Wednesday. She also recorded five rebounds, four assists. and one steal.

Andriana Acosta and Braxtin Mickens also hit for double figures before fouling out in a game that had a combined 47 fouls resulting in 52 free throw attempts. Acosta totaled 15 points and seven rebounds, while Mickens collected ten points, four rebounds, four steals, and three assists.

Justene Charlesworth and Kalyn Sias-Chaney rounded out the quintuplet of double-digit scorers with 11 points each. Charlesworth also tied Acosta for team high rebounding honors with seven, while Sias-Chaney posted a team best six assists and six boards.

Camile Buckhanon led the way for Lincoln (2-14, 2-12 CCAC) with 21 points.

Both teams struggled to find their offense on this cold night with the Saints finishing at 39.7 percent shooting from the field (25-of-63) and Lincoln at 35.9 percent (23-of-64).  From three point range, both teams converted at just a 20 percent clip making five treys each.

With the exception of the game's first basket and a 16-15 lead with one minute remaining in the first quarter, the Saints (17-6, 14-2) never trailed throughout the duration of the night with their biggest advantage of 16 points coming late in the third quarter.

A 14-3 run that started late in the second quarter and carried over to the third provided the necessary breathing room for USF the rest of the night. It turned a 29 all game into a 43-32 advantage for the Saints with 7:09 to play. A pair of three pointers by Charlesworth and baskets from Sias-Chaney, Acosta, and Mickens fueled the surge.

The closest Lincoln would get the rest of the night was six points, including once with 2:35 to play.
