GARY, Ind. --- After a tough opening weekend, the University of St.Francis volleyball team took to the floor Thursday night looking to start Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play strong against Indiana Northwest. USF came out swinging from the start, taking the first two sets. The Redhawks were able to take set three, but the Saints were able to close out the conference opener 3-1 with a decisive win in set four.

Anderson led the way offensively with over 15 kills.Â

Sippel and Hannah Pacheco combined to dish out 40 of the team's 51 assists. Both also finished with double-digit digs to record double-doubles.Â

How it happened

In set one, the Redhawks held the lead through most of the set. USF made a late run in the set with Sippel serving. Three different players got involved offensively for the Saints during the run.Â

Early in set two, the Saints grabbed a 10-5 lead on a Peyton Baird kill. The USF block also got going in the set.Â

USF closed out the second set 25-23 on a big Anderson swing off the outside.

Indiana Northwest put their best effort forward in set three. They totaled four blocks and hit .243 in the set to take set three 25-21.

The Saints got it going once again in set four. USF hit .219 in set four and forced ten Redhawk errors.
