USF Flys Past RedHawks for Fifth Straight Win

Crown Point, IND. --- The University of St. Francis women's soccer team extended their winning streak to five games on Friday evening while also extending their run of not allowing a goal to five full contests. USF also moved to 2-0 in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play with the convincing 10-0 win over Indiana University Northwest. 
 

Turning Point

  • In the seventh minute Litzy Corona found the back of the net for the first of four goals in the contest.
     

Key Stats

  • Corona scored four times in the contest. Her nine goals on the season leads the CCAC and ranks second in all of the NAIA

  • Yadira Estrada and Ellie Provo combined for the fifth shutout in as many games this season. USF is now just one of four teams in the NAIA that has not allowed a goal. 

  • The five match winning streak is the longest since the 2015 season. 
     

How It Happened

  • The Saints dominated from the opening whistle, getting a goal from Corona just under seven minutes in.

  • USF extended the lead to 4-0 before half, scoring three goals in just over eight minutes. Corona and Nataley Salgado scored during the run. 

  • Allison Schaar and Valeria Valles-Garcia scored quickly to begin the second half to extend the lead to 6-0. 

  • Corona then added goals three and four of the day in the 56th and 64th minute to make it 8-0. 

  • Alexa Valencia-Corona and Kelli Pietrowski scored the final goals of the day to cap off the 10-0 win.
