Shkidchenko’s Four Goals Lead USF Past IUN

Crown Points, IND. --- Picking up their first win of the season, the University of St. Francis men's soccer team put up a season high goal total in a 7-1 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) win over Indiana University Northwest. With the win, USF picks up their first win of the season and improves to 1-1 in CCAC play.
 

Key Stats

  • Zakhar Shkidchenko led the USF offensive outbreak with four goals. 

  • USF outshot the RedHawks 35-4. 

  • Carlos Ferrer Coto picked up the win, allowing one goal while making two saves. 

  • Seven goals in a match is the most since October 2019 against Calumet St. Joseph. 
     

How It Happened

  • USF got the scoring started just over three minutes in, when Edward Luna found the back of the net.

  • The score stayed the same until early in the second half when Shkidchenko netted two goals in just over five minutes with the first coming on a penalty kick. 

  • After a IUN goal made it a 3-1 score, Shkidchenko added  another goal to his tally just a minute later to keep the lead at three. 

  • Santos Contreras  and Sergio Fernandez-Arango both found the back of the net late for USF, leading to the 7-1 victory.
