Shkidchenko Records Three Goals As USF Draws With Holy Cross

Joliet, Ill. --- Trying to build on their first win of the season, the University of St. Francis men's soccer team took to the pitch against Holy Cross on Tuesday afternoon. In a hard fought match on both sides that would end up a 3-3 draw after two periods of extra time. Zakhar Shkidchenko recorded a hat-trick on the night.
 

TURNING POINT

  • In the 83rd minute, Shkidchenko was fouled inside the box on a break away. The USF forward was awarded a penalty kick, which he was able to strike past the Holy Cross keeper to tie the match at three.
     

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Playing in rainy conditions, Holy Cross would strike first in the 13th minute. Jake Purvis took a pass Elmin Ejup and was able to guide it in.

  • Purvis then gave Holy Cross a 2-0 advantage in the 24th minute.

  • Shkidchenko cut the Holy Cross lead in half in the 51st minute, finishing off a pass from Pablo Rubio Guerra.

  • Holy Cross answered just over two minutes later, when Gabe Nyenka scored off a rebound from a penalty kick save.

  • Shkidchenko scored goals two and three of the day in off of penalty kicks in the 82nd and 83rd minutes to tie the match at three.

  • Carson Heglund made two key saves in the two overtime periods to preserve the 3-3 draw.
