USF Races Past IUSB to Stay Undefeated

JOLIET, Ill. --- The University of St. Francis women's soccer team put up a school-record 11 goals, while maintaining its season-opening scoreless streak on defense in routing Indiana University South Bend 11-0 in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) matchup on Tuesday night at Joliet Memorial Stadium. Litzy Corona totaled seven points on the night with three goals and one assist to lead the offensive uprising.

How It Happened
  • Eight different Saints contributed to the double-figure scoring night with at least one goal or an assist topped by Corona's hat trick and one assist.  

  • Corona was one of four Saints to register multiple goals. The others were Marroquin, Schaar and Alexa Valencia-Corona with two goals each. Valencia-Corona also added one assist.

  • Valencia-Corona's five total points on the night were her first of the season.

  • Contributing one goal each were Nataley Salgado and Kelli Pietrowski with the latter's being her first of the season.    

  • Hernandez had a different type of hat trick with her team-high three assists on the night and the first three of the season for her.  

  • Yadira Estrada kept her clean sheet intact with her third shutout of the season. She stopped the only shot attempt that came her way.

  • The Saints finished with 64 total shots, 33 of which were on goal, opposite just two and one for the Titans (0-5, 0-1).
