JOLIET, Ill. --- Playing a match in the friendly confines of the Pat Sullivan Center for the first time this season, the University of St. Francis volleyball team took on the Trojans of Trinity International University on Saturday night. Building on their momentum from the three straight Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) wins, the Saints played one of their best matches of the season, sweeping the Trojans 3-0 to move to 4-0 in the CCAC.

Desiree Anderson continued her strong season, notching 12 kills and ten digs for her seventh double-double.

Four players recorded double-figure digs, led by Gabby Paelmo with 17.

How it happened

The Saints came out firing from the opening serve, scoring six of the first seven points, getting kills from Hannah Monfre and Lauren Stefanski.

TIU battled back into the set, but a late 4-0 run powered by the USF defense helped USF open a 22-18 lead late in the set.

USF finished off set one 25-22 with a fifth total team block by Stefanski and Peyton Baird.

In set two the Saints came out strong again, scoring eight of the first nine points.

The Saints then put the set out of reach with a 9-0 run to take a 20-8 lead. Sipple and Anderson each had kills in the run.

Baird and Taylor Connolly helped to close out the 25-13 win with three kills at the end.

The third set the two teams battled back and fourth until late. USF used a 5-0 run that included a Sippel ace to open up an advantage. The Saints then closed out set three 25-20.
