Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Saints Drop CCAC Opener to Lincoln

JOLIET, Ill. --- Looking to start off Chicagoland Colligate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play strong, the University of St. Francis men's soccer team took to the field on Saturday afternoon against the Lincoln College Lynx. USF had opportunities offensively throughout the match, but were unable to find the back of the net enough times, falling to the Lynx 2-1.
 

Turning Point

  • Tied 1-1 with under a minute to go in the first half, Issac Noriega was able to direct a header into the back of the net for what proved to be the game winning goal for Lincoln. 


How it happened

  • Lincoln got the scoring started in the tenth minute. Malyk Silva used his right foot and put it inside the right post to give the Lynx a 1-0 lead. 

  • The Saints tied it up in the 22nd minute. Shkidchenko was fouled inside the box and was awarded a penalty kick. He finished off his second goal of the season while tying the match at one. 

  • Carlos Ferrer Coto kept the match tied by making multiple acrobatic saves during the first half. 

  • Lincoln finally cashed in on one of their scoring opportunities in the 45th minute, when Noriega scored what proved to be the game winner. 

  • USF crested multiple scoring opportunities in the second half but came up empty when searching for the equalizer.
