USF Fall Twice to Close Out Opening Weekend

UPLAND, Ind.--- Looking to wrap up the opening tournament of the 2021 season strong on Saturday, the University of St. Francis volleyball team took to the floor two more times at the Amber McClure Fayerweather Memorial Tournament in Upland, Indiana. USF opened the day falling in a closely fought 3-1 match with St. Mary's of the Woods. The Saints then closed out the weekend falling to Mount Vernon Nazarene 3-1.
 

How it happened vs. St. Mary's of the Woods

The Saints and St. Mary's played four closely fought sets, with each set being decided by just two points. The first set went deep into extra points, with St. Mary's winning 32-30. USF then took the second set in extra points 26-24. St. Mary's then took the final two sets 25-23 to seal the four-set victory.

Desiree Anderson led the offense with her second double-double of the season with 20 kills and 15 digs. Hannah Pacheco led the team with 23 assists, and Lauren Stefanski recorded five blocks.
 

How it happened vs. Mount Vernon Nazarene

The Cougars of Mount Vernon Nazarane took the firsts two sets of the match 25-20. USF responded, taking set three 25-21. The Cougars then closed out the match in set four 25-12.

Stephanie Woods led the offense with 12 kills and three blocks. Abby Lab and Kaylie Sippel each had 13 assists, while Anderson had 16 digs and ten kills to record her third double-double of the season.
