JOLIET, Ill. -- After battling through the tough spring season because of COVID, the University of St. Francis women's soccer team will return to the traditional fall schedule this year. USF will begin its season on August 24 when they welcome Huntington University to Joliet Memorial Stadium.
"We're all really excited for this upcoming 2021 Fall Season for so many reasons," said head coach
Al Palar. "We were very grateful to be able to compete last year, but the entire year didn't go as planned for obvious reasons. This upcoming season, we will be able to have a proper pre-season to prepare for our competitive non-conference schedule early on that will help us going into our conference games. Last year was rough for the program as we began the season with an unexpectedly low number on the roster and injuries continued to pile on as we started the season in late January. I don't anticipate the same problems this season as we will have a much larger roster going into the pre-season camp and I'm hopeful that will translate into better results and performances on the field."
The Saints will face a challenging slate of non-conference action to start the year. They open the season on Tuesday, August 24th against Huntington University before hitting the road for two contests at Cleary and Goshen. USF then closes the non-conference portion of the schedule at home against Saint Francis of Indiana.
St. Francis will open the CCAC portion of the schedule on September 14th against Indiana South Bend. That match will be one of six home CCAC matches this fall. The Saints will hit the road seven times over the conference portion of the schedule.
The regular season and home finale will come on October 30th with a 5:00 pm kickoff.
