Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Saints Make Quick Work of Lincoln

LINCOLN, Ill. --- The University of St. Francis women's volleyball team never allowed Lincoln College more than a three-point lead in any one set and that happened just one time as the Saints took care of business on the road with a 25-19, 25-17, 26-24 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory on Tuesday night.

USF (10-8, 7-5 CCAC) led from start to finish in each of the first two sets with the exception of losing the first point of the second set. In the third set, Lincoln hung with the Saints and was one point away from a set victory only to have St. Francis rally on a pair of kills from Stephanie Woods (JR/Westchester, Ill.), and Taylor Valant (SR/St. Anne, Ill.), and an ace from Makenna Bartecki (SR/Lockport, Ill.). The third set also featured 12 ties.

The Saints had plenty of contributors to its 21 percent attack report on the night, including Woods and Lauren Stefanski (SR/Plainfield, Ill.), who had one error between them.  Woods provided six kills in ten chances without an error (.600), while Stefanski posted eight kills in 18 attempts with one error (.389).

Desiree Anderson (FR/Joliet, Ill.) recorded the most kills for St. Francis with her nine. Right behind her were a slew of Saints with eight each: Brooklyn Withey (SR/Lapeer, Mich.), Valant, and Stefanski. Withey also turned in a .261 attack reading on the night.

Anderson paced the attack defensively, as well, with her six blocks (one solo, five assist) to go along with nine digs. Woods followed with one solo block and four of the assist variety. As a team, USF totaled nine blocks.

Alexis Engst (JR/Bloomington, Ill.) set the table offensively with her 32 assists, while Hannah Monfre (SO/Franklin, Wis.) handled Lincoln's offense with her 18 digs.

The Saints close out the four-match road trip on Thursday (March 18) when they head to Davenport, Iowa to face St. Ambrose University in a conference match beginning at 7 pm.
