JOLIET, Ill. --- Using a strong attacking game to rally from early deficits in each of its three sets against Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Judson University, the University of St. Francis women's volleyball team got back to the .500 mark with its 25-19, 25-21, 25-16 victory at the Pat Sullivan Center on Tuesday night.
USF is now 11-11 overall and 7-3 in the conference, while Judson slipped to 13-7 overall and 5-5 in the league.
The Saints turned in a .309 hitting report with five of six players to record at least one kill having either one or no attacking errors.Â
Lauren Stefanski and
Taylor Connolly both played error-free with Stefanski having six kills in 12 chances (.500) and Connolly, six in 14 (.429).Â
Stephanie Woods also had a strong game with her eight kills and only one error in 20 chances (.375).Â
Desiree Anderson led all with 14 total kills.
Judson, on the other hand, hit at just a .146 clip.
Kaylie Sippel set things up with her 29 assists.
On the defensive front, Stefanski, Woods and
Peyton Baird each contributed three block assists, while
Gabby Paelmo and
Hannah Monfre led in digs with eight each.
The Saints also recorded seven service aces in the match.
In Set 1, USF used a 7-1 run to wipe out an early deficit and never looked back after building a 15-10 advantage.
In Set 2, the Saints trailed 10-6 only to run off six of the next seven points in taking a 12-11 lead. Six ties followed before another 4-1 St. Francis run broke a 17-all tie.
Head coach
Cara Currier's team closed out Set 3 with seven of the match's final eight points to gain the sweep.
