Two Late Goals Snatch Victory From Saints

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. --- Two late goals off free kicks, including one in overtime, snatched victory from the University of St. Francis women's soccer team as Olivet Nazarene University rallied to gain a 3-2 win in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Wednesday night at the Snowbarger Athletic Complex.

The tying goal came by Katie Knutte with just 45 seconds remaining in regulation with Annabel Murley's game-winner hitting the back of the net 3:46 into overtime.

USF (8-2, 5-2 CCAC) had built a 2-0 lead just 15 minutes into the match. Litzy Mendez took a feed from Kelli Pietrowski to open the scoring at the 6:12 mark. It was her fifth goal of the season. Litzy Corona followed nine minutes later from 30 yards out with her team-leading 15th goal of the campaign.

Emily Greene got Olivet Nazarene (5-5-2, 5-1-1) back in the contest just 21 seconds later connecting off a rebound of a shot that hit the post.

After producing four shots in the opening 15 minutes of the match, including the two goals, USF was limited to just five shots the rest of the night with two more shots in the opening half, two in the second half and one in overtime.

The Saints' only other serious threat at scoring came with just under six minutes to play in regulation, but Corona's bid for a second goal was denied by Samantha Tuuk. It was one of only two saves on the night for Tuuk.

Olivet Nazarene, meanwhile, got 15 shots off in the first 45 minutes, another 12 in the second half and the game-winner in overtime. Ten of those 28 attempts were on goal with Saint goalkeeper Yadira Estrada stopping seven.

Both USF's losses this season have now come by one goal, but the Saints are still 4-2 overall in one-goal decisions on the year.
