LEMONT, Ill. --- A strong second-day performance from each of its scorers enabled the University of St. Francis men's golf team to gain a fifth-place finish at the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Cup, which was played at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday.

Brandon Brodzinski led the pack of Saints golfers, all of whom recorded sub-80 rounds on the second day of play. He shot an even-par 72 on Tuesday, which was the fourth-best score among all 57 participants in the ten-team field. For the tournament, he recorded a 154 (82-72) to place in a three-way tie for 13th place.   

One of the individuals to tie Brodzinski was his own teammate, John Weis. He shot a 78 on Monday followed by a 76 on Tuesday for his 154 total.

The rest of St. Francis' scoring came from Nolan Weis and Luke Petrovic. Nolan Weis improved his game by five strokes between the two days, opening with an 82 and closing with a 77 to finish tied for 24th place at 159.

Second on the team behind Brodzinski's ten-stroke improvement from the first day to the second was Petrovic with his scores of 87 and 79 to end at 166.

Roosevelt University came away as the top team in the field finishing at 606 (306-300) with St. Ambrose University just two strokes behind at 608 (307-301). USF's final stroke total was 633.

Individually, Holy Cross College's Carter Silva topped all others with his two-over-par 146. After shooting a 79 on Monday, he came back with the best round of any golfer at 67 on Tuesday.

The tournament concluded fall play for the Saints.
