Saints Offense Overpowers Crimson Wave

East Chicago, Ind.. --- Recording their second straight shutout, the University of St. Francis women's soccer team defeated Calumet College of St. Joseph on Saturday evening by a final score of 6-0. USF now has seven shutouts on the season and ranks fourth nationally in goals allowed with three.
 

Turning Point

  • The Saints got their first of six goals on the day in the 16th minute. Litzy Corona put the finishing touches on her first of three goals on the night. Corona now has 14 goals on the season which leads the CCAC and ranks fifth nationally. 
     

How it Happened

  • USF got on the board in the 16th minute when Corona found the back of the net for the first time on the night.

  • Corona extended the USF lead to 2-0 in the 29th minute with her 13th goal of the season.

  • Just over a minute later, Alexis Marroquin got a pass from Lauren Pikulski and beat the CCSJ keeper to extend the lead to 3-0.

  • Corona added her CCAC leading 14th goal of the season in the 33rd minute, making it 4-0 USF at the half.

  • Allison Schaar got in on the scoring, finishing off a pass from Marroquin in the 58th minute, making it 5-0 USF.

  • The Saints added one final goal in the 69th minute. Litzy Mendez finished off a pass from Valeria Valles-Garcia to extent the lead to 6-0 Saints.

  • Yadira Estrada kept a clean sheet, making three saves on the night. She now has recorded seven shutouts this season.
