PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. --- Looking to derail first-place Trinity Christian College, the University of St. Francis women's soccer team came up on the short end of a 2-0 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference defensive battle Saturday afternoon at the Schaaf Athletic Complex.
The Trolls (12-2, 8-2 CCAC) split their two goals evenly between the two halves with the second goal coming just 48 seconds after the break. The only goal Trinity Christian would need came at the 26:53 mark.
USF (8-4-1, 5-4-1), meanwhile, had four looks at the goal off set pieces, the majority coming late in each half, but came up empty each time for the third straight contest.Â
Litzy Corona registered the two first-half shots on goal, while
Allison Schaar did the same after the intermission. The Saints also had one other attempt hit the cross bar.
Trinity Christian outshot the Saints, 12-6, but managed just three more shots on goal (7-4).
Gillian Alberto gained the shutout in goal for the hosts with her four saves.Â
Yadira Estrada had five saves for USF.
