PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. --- Producing its most complete victory of the season, the University of St. Francis men's soccer team had nine different players provide a goal or an assist in its 5-0 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference win over Trinity Christian College on Saturday afternoon at the Schaaf Athletic Complex.
Pablo Rubio Guerra was the lone Saint to get more than one goal or assist with his two scores. He started a second-half outburst (four goals) with his first goal coming just 51 seconds after the break. He also closed out the scoring at 69:47.
The latter goal also ended a three-goal flurry in a span of just under eight minutes between the 61- and 69-minute marks.Â
Leonardo Haro started it at 61:58, followed by
Anthony Derka at 68:28 and then Guerra.
The scenario was similar to Wednesday night when the Saints netted three goals in just under seven minutes in the second half to pull away from Trinity International University in a 5-2 contest.
Zakhar Shkidchenko also made history when he put the Saints up 1-0 at the 39-minute mark. His 19th goal of the season tied the single-season school record. He has now scored in nine of his last ten matches and boasts the most goals in the NAIA this year.
Assisting on Saturday's second straight five-goal game were
Jesus Flores,
Roberto Centeno,
Sergio Fernandez-Arango,
Edward Luna, and
Diego Hernandez.
USF made the most of its shots on goal, scoring in just eight chances. Trinity Christian, meanwhile, was limited to just two shots on goal and eight total attempts.
Carson Heglund claimed the shutout in goal, his second of the season, via his two saves.
The Saints have outscored the opposition 13-3 during their current three-game winning streak. They have also won five of their last six contests dating back to Sept. 29.
