JOLIET, Ill. ---
Yadira Estrada stopped eight shots on goal to record her sixth shutout of the season, but the only thing the University of St. Francis women's soccer team had to show for it was a double-overtime scoreless tie with Trinity International University in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup played at Joliet Memorial Stadium on Tuesday night.
Offense was hard to come by for both teams, but especially for the Saints, who managed just three shots on goal in the 110 minutes of action, including just one after the 28:13 mark of the opening half. The only other attempt – all three of which were made by
Litzy Corona – came at 59:28.
Trinity International, meanwhile, put seven shots on goal in the second half after recording just one in the opening 45 minutes.
Neither team had a shot on goal in either of the two overtime periods with Trinity International attempting the only shot in the final 20 minutes. For the game, the Trojans (7-5-1, 4-4-1 CCAC) outshot the Saints, 16-15.
Sarah Davis recorded Trinity International's shutout via her three saves.
The tie snapped a two-match losing streak for St. Francis, but left the Saints (8-3-1, 5-3-1) scoreless in their last 278 minutes.
