Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Saints Produce Season's Biggest Margin of VIctory

LINCOLN, Ill. --- Scoring its most lopsided victory of the season, the University of St. Francis women's basketball team cruised to an 87-43 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference win over first-year league member Lincoln College on Tuesday night as all five starters hit the double-figure scoring mark.

The No.13 ranked Saints (15-2, 3-0 CCAC) finished the night authoring their second-best shooting mark of the season, converting at a .524 clip with 33 baskets in 63 attempts.  They also went 10-of-23 from three-point range (.435).

On the opposite end, USF's No. 1-ranked scoring defense in the nation held Lincoln to 27.9 percent shooting with 17 field goals in 61 attempts. That lowered the Saints' field goal percentage defense to .328. Entering play on Wednesday, St. Francis was sixth-best in that category at .335.

The Lynx (2-6, 1-4 CCAC) were also held to single-digit scoring in all but one of the game's four quarters, leaving them faced with a 41-14 deficit at the break. An 18-2 run by the Saints in the closing six minutes of the second quarter created the huge gap with Lincoln never getting closer than 30 points after the first 1:25 of the third quarter.

Leah Sims (SR/Chicago, Ill.) and Jordan Pyle (JR/Traralgon, Australia) shared the honor of being the game's top scorer with 18 points each. Twelve of Sims' 18 points came from beyond the arc. Pyle, meanwhile, authored her third double-double of the season. Her game-high 11 rebounds also gave the Saints a 48-33 rebounding advantage on the night.

Justene Charlesworth (JR/Wanatah, Ind.) also had a strong night from long range, delivering three treys leading to her 11-point effort. Andriana Acosta (SR/Crest Hill, Ill.) matched that mark, while Shadrian McDaniel (JR/Chicago, Ill.) contributed another ten points.

USF hosts Cardinal Stritch University on Saturday in another conference tilt. Opening tip is slated for 1 pm at the Sullivan Center.
