BABSON PARK, Fla. --- Ricky Neyman had a day to remember, belting three home runs and driving in eight runs on the afternoon, including three on a walk-off Game 1 winner as NAIA No.16 ranked Webber International University took a doubleheader from the University of St. Francis baseball team by 9-8 and 10-2 counts Sunday afternoon at Heart of America Field.
USF catcher Adam Cibulka (SR/Grafton, Wis.) provided the only other home run on the day as part of a three-hit, two-RBI afternoon for him.
The two contests were the first of seven on USF's annual Florida trip and left the Saints at 5-11 on the season. Webber International improved to 16-11 with the sweep.
Game 1: Webber International 9, USF 8
Neyman homered twice including with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning for the walk-off win. His other home run came in the third inning and was all part of a five-RBI game for the junior first baseman.
Cibulka and John Peterson (JR/Palos Heights, Ill.) each drove in a pair of runs for the Saints with Peterson's sacrifice fly to plate Jonathan Wolf (SO/Kalamazoo, Mich.) (triple) in the third inning opening the scoring in the contest. Neyman tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the inning with his solo home run to center field.
Peterson drove in his other run in USF's five-run fourth inning, the same frame in which Noah Kararo (JR/Oswego, Ill.) and Dolan Nicholson (SR/Denton, Texas) provided RBI doubles. The Saints' other two runs came home on a wild pitch and a balk.
Webber International cut into that 6-1 deficit in the bottom half of the inning with a pair of runs before producing the game's second tie with three more runs one inning later.
The Saints looked to be in good shape again when Cibulka delivered his second double of the game with two outs in the seventh inning to score a pair of runs before Neyman unleashed his second home run to left center field with two outs in the Warriors' last at bat for the victory.
The hit wiped out a solid relief effort by Kyle Massaro (SR/Romeoville, Ill.) (0-1), who had thrown 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief prior to Neyman's home run.
Game 2: Webber International 10, USF 2
Webber international tallied runs in each of the first three innings of Game 2 to build a 5-0 advantage before throwing up a five-spot in the seventh inning as five different Warriors produced multi-hit games as part of a 12-hit attack.
Neyman capped the scoring with his three-run home run in his second 2-for-3 effort of the day at the plate. Bryan Eusebio, like Neyman, also drove in three runs in the nightcap, allowing starter Bryce McDonald (4-2) to coast to the victory. The freshman right hander pitched five scoreless innings, allowing four hits and one walk, while striking out four batters.
Villasenor (1-3) suffered the defeat for the Saints.
Cibulka registered the Saints' only RBI of the day with his solo home run to lead off the sixth inning. USF's other run came on an error.
