Alyssa Moreno

Alyssa Moreno was named the head coach of the University of St. Francis softball team before the 2025 season.  The 2025-26 season will mark Moreno’s second year as head coach.

As of the start of the 2025-26 season, Moreno has compiled an overall record of 20-20 (.500) and a conference mark of 12-4 (.750) while at University of St. Francis (IL).  Under her tutelage at USF, a total of five players have earned CCAC All-Conference honors with one receiving CCAC Gold Glove accolades.  Moreno has also seen five of her players receive CCAC Player of the Week awards (four pitchers, one position).  On the academic side, she has totaled eight CCAC All-Academic honorees, five NAIA Scholar Athletes, three CSC NAIA Academic All-District honorees, seven NFCA Academic All-America Scholar Athletes, and one NFCA Team Academic Award.

Moreno came to St. Francis after serving at her alma mater in the fall of 2022 as a graduate assistant coach, a position she held through the 2024 season.  During that time, she was part of back-to-back conference regular-season championships and two NAIA National Tournament Opening Round appearances with the Saints.  As a graduate assistant, Moreno has helped USF to an overall record of 62-27 (30-6 CCAC) during her two years with the program, she has helped develop 15 CCAC All-Conference selections, 6 CCAC Gold Glove Team Members, 12 CCAC Player of the Week selections (7 Pitcher, 5 Player), the 2023 Pitcher and Player of the Year (Danielle Callahan, Hannah Vachon), one CSC All-American (Kaylie Sippel - 2023), as well as one NAIA All-American (Danielle Callahan - 2023).

As a four-year member of the USF softball team as a student-athlete (2018-2022), Moreno helped see the Saints to an overall record of 90-49 (42-22 CCAC), which included four CCAC Tournament appearances.  On April 5, 2002, she delivered a highly dramatic 2-out, 2-run pitch-hit RBI single in the bottom of the 7th inning to give the Saints the 6-5 conference victory over Cardinal Stritch University.  Moreno was recognized as a NAIA Scholar-Athlete, and she received CCAC All-Academic accolades twice during her career.

A native of Valparaiso, Ind., Moreno graduated from University of St. Francis (Ill.) in May of 2022 with a Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management.  In 2024, she earned her Master’s degree from USF in Healthcare Administration.
