Rock Allen joined the Fighting Saints for the 2018-19 season as an assistant coach for the men’s basketball team. In July of 2020, Allen returned to the Saints as a full-time member of the USF coaching staff. The 2025-26 season will mark Allen’s combined seventh year as assistant coach.
At St. Francis, Allen assists the program in coordination of practice plans, individual player development, assisting in training sessions, video breakdown & analysis, creation of scouting reports, and implementation of game strategies.
Allen has helped USF to an overall record of 99-72 (65-49 CCAC) during his combined six years with the program, while capturing the 2024-25 CCAC regular season conference title, the 2018-19 & 2024-25 CCAC Tournament titles, and seeing the team to two NAIA National Tournament appearances (2018-19, 2024-25). He has helped develop 13 CCAC All-Conference selections, the 2019 Newcomer of the Year (Lewis Holey), one CCAC All-Freshmen Team member (Nick Niego), as well as two CSC Academic All-Americans (Aitor Anabitarte – 2022-23, 2024-25).
Prior to joining the Fighting Saints staff, Allen spent one season (2019-20) as an assistant men’s basketball coach at NCAA Division II Concordia University (Ore.). While at Concordia, Allen assisted in all aspects of the program and was responsible for the creation and implementation of scouting reports, monitorization of student-athlete academics, and oversight of the Cavaliers’ community service initiatives.
Allen began his coaching career in 2016 as the graduate assistant for the men’s basketball program at NCAA Division I Central Michigan University. During his two years with the Chippewas, he helped the program to a 2018 CollegeInsider.com Post-Season Tournament Elite 8 finish. Allen was responsible for video coordination, as well as the creation of all offensive and defensive scouting reports and was the assistant director of the Coach Keno Davis Summer Basketball Camp.
Allen graduated from Central Michigan University in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management with a minor in Business Administration and endorsement in Coaching. In 2018, he earned his master’s degree from CMU in Sport Administration. While at Central Michigan, Allen was the Head Student Manager for the men’s basketball program from 2013-2016. During those three seasons, he oversaw a working staff of 13 undergradute managers while supporting the coaching staff with daily activities of the team, including film breakdown and implementation of drills in practices. Allen helped lead the Chippewas to two conference championships (2015, 2016) and a 2015 National Invitational Tournament appearance.
