Rich Swann joined the Fighting Saints in July of 2018 as an assistant coach for the football team to the linebackers and safeties.  The 2025-26 season will mark Swann’s eighth year as assistant coach.

At St. Francis, Swann assists the program in coordination of practice plans, individual player development, assisting in training sessions, and implementation of game strategies.

Prior to joining the Fighting Saints staff, Swann spent seven seasons (2007-2013) as an assistant football coach at NCAA Division III Aurora University (Ill.).  While as an assistant coach for the Spartans, Swann helped guide the program to a 36-35 overall record as well as the 2008 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference title.  In 2010, Swann’s tutelage helped produce a defense that led the nation in interceptions.  From 2008-2012, Swann also served at the university for five seasons as an assistant baseball coach.

Swann began his coaching career in 1991 as the head baseball coach and assistant varsity football coach at Aurora Central Catholic High School (Ill.), where he served through the 2007 season.  On the football side, he helped lead the Chargers to five consecutive IHSA playoff appearances.
